12Sep Three bright rooms, 120 desks and one very proud village — the new term starts under a real roof.
The ribbon was cut by the oldest grandmother in Kapsabet, and the cheer from 300 pupils could be heard across the valley. Three storm-proof classrooms, 120 desks, a library corner and — for the first time — electric light.
The rooms were built by village masons over nine months, funded entirely by the education cause. Next term, enrolment is expected to double as children from two neighbouring villages walk in.
“Come and see it yourself — the kettle is always on at the depot, and the vans leave every Saturday.”
