09Jul Twelve dollars a month sounds small — until you see what it compounds into over a school year.
Twelve dollars is a pizza night. It is also, in our districts, a month of school lunches, a term's worth of books, or a child's vaccinations for a year. Monthly gifts compound into the steadiest money we have — the kind that lets us hire teachers on real contracts.
Sponsors receive two letters a year and a report card each term. Ninety per cent of our sponsors stay past year three, and their children graduate at twice the district rate.
“Come and see it yourself — the kettle is always on at the depot, and the vans leave every Saturday.”
